The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) has issued a stern directive to residents who may have taken parts or belongings from the site of last week’s tragic military helicopter crash to return them immediately.
According to a statement signed by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, intelligence gathered by the Council indicates that some individuals who were among the first to arrive at the crash site on Wednesday, 6 August 2025, removed items including parts of the helicopter and other belongings found at the scene.
The Minister warned that possession of any such items—no matter how small—constitutes a serious offence. These items may include metals, screws, drives, or boards. “Any person found in possession of such items beyond the above date would be deemed a criminal and will face the full rigours of the law,” the release stated.
The Council has urged anyone in possession of the items to hand them over to the Unit Committee, Assembly Member, Municipal or District Chief Executives, or members of the investigating team currently on the ground.
As part of efforts to encourage compliance, the ARCC is offering a cash reward for anyone who willingly returns any item by the close of day on Monday, 11 August 2025. After this deadline, the Council says the offer will lapse and offenders will face prosecution.
The statement concluded with a reminder to the public to cooperate fully with authorities in the ongoing investigation and retrieval exercise.
