Residents fight back after bandits’ attack on Katsina village

Bandits reportedly attacked Rafin Gora, a Fulani settlement in Tandama Ward of Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina in the early hours of the morning.

According to a post shared by Bakatsine on X, the attack happened around 1 a.m.

“Last night, around 1am, bandits attacked Rafin Gora, a Fulani settlement in Tandama Ward, Dandume LGA, Katsina State,” the post said.

The raid left one resident injured while the attackers made away with hundreds of cattle.

“The raid left one resident injured and resulted in the theft of hundreds of cattle,” the source added.

However, residents of the community quickly mobilised alongside local vigilantes and members of the Katsina Community Watch Committee (CWC) in Dandume to pursue the attackers.

Their effort led to the recovery of 100 of the stolen cattle.

“Community members, working alongside local vigilantes and Katsina Community Watch Committee (CWC) in Dandume, pursued the attackers and successfully recovered 100 stolen cattle,” the post stated.

The attack reportedly happened despite a peace agreement earlier reached between stakeholders in the local government area and bandits ahead of the Ramadan period.
