Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on Muslims across Nigeria to use the holy month of Ramadan as an opportunity for charity, compassion, and prayers for the nation’s progress.

In a statement marking the beginning of Ramadan, Atiku emphasized the importance of generosity, urging Nigerians to extend support beyond their immediate families.

“The lifestyle of the noble Prophet Muhammad (SAW) should be our guide, as he taught us the immense benefits of being generous, especially during the month of Ramadan,” he said.

The former vice president also highlighted the economic hardship facing Nigerians and urged governments at all levels to take concrete steps to ease the burden on citizens.

“Nigerians are passing through harsh economic situations, and it is necessary that governments provide palliatives to support the people and alleviate their living conditions,” Atiku stated.

He further encouraged Nigerians to pray for the country’s peace and development, stressing that Ramadan is a time for spiritual reflection and national unity.

“I urge that we remember Nigeria in our prayers and call on governments to provide the necessary succour that will ease the pains in the lives of Nigerians during the Ramadan fasting and beyond,” he added.

Ramadan, the holiest month in Islam, is a period of fasting, devotion, and increased charitable acts. Muslim faithful worldwide observe it as a time of reflection, discipline, and communal support.
