The Queenmother of Tantra Hill in the Tantra Traditional Area in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, Naa Odarley Djoomo I, has appealed to Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), philanthropists and well-meaning individual Ghanaians and institutions to support her immense efforts to construct a fire service station or post in the Traditional Area.
Speaking to the media ahead of the upcoming Homowo festival celebrations durbar scheduled for Saturday, 9th August, 2025, the Queenmother emphasized the urgent need for a fire post in the area to enhance safety and also deal with emergency response activities in the community.
The Queenmother revealed that the Tantra Traditional Council (TTC) is prepared to release some acres of land for the project. According to her, such a gesture also requires reciprocal assistance, particularly from the Tantra citizens living both at home and abroad, philanthropists, NGOs and the Government of Ghana (GOG) to bring the laudable vision to reality.
Naa Odarley Djoomo I also appealed to the Ghana Police Service (GPS) to intensify its patrols in the Tantra area to ensure continued peace and security.
The Queenmother is someone who is known for her numerous philanthropic efforts and activities in the community. She regularly organizes free health screening for the residents during which many do have their National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards renewed for them in addition to the registration of new members onto the NHIS data base.
Naa Odarley Djoomo has also provided clean and safe drinking water for the residents of the community, thereby addressing some of the acute water challenges and its related issues bedeviling the community.
She made a passionate call for peace and unity among the chiefs and people of the Ga State in general and the good people of Tantra in particular, urging all of them to work together for the common interest and progress of the community.
Naa Odarley Djoomo I also advised the youth to eschew all forms of drug and substance abuse including smoking and alcoholism which can be detrimental to their physical, emotional and mental progress and development.
She also cautioned them against indulging in internet fraud activities and instead learn to acquire genuine skills and knowledge that can positively impact their lives as the future leaders of the country.
