The Citizens Participation Against Corruption Initiative has urged Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State to continue to prioritize poverty reduction, health and infrastructural development.

The anti-corruption group also called on the governor to actualise his promise of funding the recurrent expenditure of the state’s budget with Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

It also demanded the publication of the second quarter performance of the state’s 2025 budget for transparency and accountability to thrive.

The Executive Director of the Citizens Participation Against Corruption Initiative, Bashir Dauda Sabuwar-Unguwa, made the calls at an interactive session on the state’s 2025.

He said: “Katsina State government should publish the second quarter performance of the 2025 budget. The administration should redouble efforts to realize its promise of funding recurrent expenditure with the IGR .

“The government should further reform the public procurement process to enhance transparency and inclusion. Projects monitoring and evaluation should be intensified.

“The administration should continue to prioritize agriculture, education, health, infrastructure, poverty reduction and inclusion of youth, women and persons with disabilities.”

He, however, said there has been consistent improvement in budget performance of the state since 2023, adding that the performance for last year was 69 per cent.

According to him, the execution of infrastructural projects in Katsina State happen as a result of effective and efficient budget implementation.
