Ghana will host the 2025 Triennale of the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA), drawing over 350 delegates from across the continent and beyond.
The high-level conference will be officially opened by President John Dramani Mahama and will take place from October 29 to 31, 2025, at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra.
The event will bring together Ministers of Education from over 30 African countries, alongside representatives from the World Bank, African Development Bank, UNESCO, Gates Foundation, Mastercard Foundation and other major education stakeholders.
The theme for the Triennale is: “Strengthening the Resilience of Africa’s Educational Systems: Advancing Towards Ending Learning Poverty by 2035.”
Speaking at a press briefing on October 14, 2025, Ghana’s Minister for Education, Mr. Haruna Iddrisu announced the country’s readiness to host the conference, highlighting its significance as the first time Ghana has been selected to host the ADEA Triennale.
The Minister emphasized that the event will serve as a platform for knowledge sharing, peer learning and the exploration of proven strategies to address the continent’s most pressing educational challenges.
A key focus of the Triennale will be on reintegrating out-of-school children, a challenge Ghana has been tackling through initiatives such as the Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP).
Delegates will also examine actionable steps to help end learning poverty across the continent by 2035.
“This is not just another conference,” the Minister stated.
“It is an opportunity for Africa to collaborate, innovate and commit to ensuring every child has access to quality education”, he said.
