Police launch manhunt for Binduri murder suspect

……GH₵1 million bounty on his ‘sick’ head

The Ghana Police Service has announced a manhunt for Mark Agingre, a native of Binduri in the Upper East Region, who is wanted in connection with a series of gruesome murders in the Binduri district and neighbouring communities.

According to police sources, Agingre is the main suspect in the murder of a man, his wife, and three children on Friday, November 7, 2025. The attack also left another child in critical condition at the Bolgatanga Government Hospital.

He is also suspected of having been involved in the killing of an elderly man and his two children on 27 October 2025, at Binduri.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Agingre might be responsible for several other targeted killings in the area.

The Police have announced a GH₵1 million reward for anyone who provides credible information leading to his arrest.

Residents with information on his whereabouts are urged to report to the nearest police station or call 191 or 18555.

The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that it is making every effort to track down the suspect and bring him to justice.

Member of Parliament (MP) for Nalerigu/Gambaga, Nurideen Mohammed Mununi, waded into the matter, calling for a swift and thorough investigation into the Binduri shooting that claimed the lives of five people, including women and children.

Speaking during an interview on Channel One News on Saturday, 8th November, the MP, who sits on Parliament’s Interior and Defence Committee, expressed deep concern over the incident and strongly condemned it, describing it as unacceptable that such acts of violence persist despite ongoing security measures.

“The Interior Minister is doing his best, but the issue is overwhelming. They often set up investigations, but after that, we need to see concrete outcomes. When investigations are done and these criminals are identified, they must be prosecuted and made to face the law. I believe if that is done, some of these incidents will stop,” he stated.

He further urged security agencies to go beyond routine investigations and strengthen intelligence operations in conflict-prone areas of the Upper East Region to prevent future attacks.

He emphasised that ensuring justice for victims and holding perpetrators accountable would serve as a deterrent to others.

The call follows the tragic shooting of five people by unknown gunmen during curfew hours at Tengmasug, a suburb of the Binduri District, on Thursday, 7 November 2025.

Police reports indicate that the assailants attacked a household around 7:15 p.m., opening fire on occupants indoors at the time.

Five people were killed instantly, while one person sustained gunshot wounds and is receiving treatment. The attackers also shot and killed two bullocks belonging to the family before fleeing the scene.

Police in the Upper East Region have confirmed the incident and assured the public that investigations are ongoing to apprehend those responsible.

Meanwhile, the Assembly Member for the area, Anaba Joseph, described the attack as devastating and criticised security agencies for lapses in monitoring, despite prior intelligence indicating increasing tensions in the community.
