The Jigawa State Police Command has stated that it recorded several successes through intelligence-led operations, routine patrols, and timely information from residents.
According to the police, “in line with this commitment, the Command has recorded a number of notable successes through intelligence-driven operations, routine patrols, and timely information from peace-loving citizens.”
On January 15, 2026, at about 8:10 pm, police officers acting on credible intelligence arrested Tukur Abdulmumin, 33, of Hotoro Quarters in Kano State, at Danladi village in Sule Tankarkar Local Government Area.
He was found in possession of 24,000 tablets of Exol drugs valued at N1.2 million.
The police said another suspect, Adamu Babangida, 42, from the same address, was also arrested during preliminary investigations.
Both suspects according to the police “were coming from Kano State with their Motobi motorcycle to dispose of the exhibit.”
The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for further investigation and prosecution.
In another operation on January 12, 2026, police in Hadejia arrested Usman Isah, 25, of Musari village in Guri Local Government Area, with a red Kasea motorcycle suspected to be stolen.
Investigations revealed that he allegedly stole the motorcycle on January 9 in Hadejia town and was also linked to another theft on January 4.
The owner of the recovered motorcycle has been identified, and the suspect will be charged in court.
Also on January 11, 2026, police intercepted a Golf 3 Wagon vehicle conveying five occupants and two cows in Guri Local Government Area.
The vehicle and cows were suspected to be stolen. The suspects, all from Yobe State, have been transferred to the SCID in Dutse for investigation.
On the same day, a Kano-based man reported that he was robbed by a tricycle driver and two passengers, who made away with laptops, cameras, a phone, and clothes.
Police said suspects linked to the crime have been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to recover the stolen items and apprehend others involved.
Police also recovered a suspected stolen motorcycle hidden inside an uncompleted building in Dutse, while seven suspects were arrested across several divisions for stealing cows, horses, donkeys, sheep, and goats.
In a separate case, police arrested two suspects from Bauchi State for stealing a Huawei phone and N50,000 cash. The phone was recovered, and the case has been taken to court.
The police said several items were recovered during the operations, including “a motor vehicle, two motorcycles, three cows, six donkeys, three horses, three sheep, four goats, and two Android phones.”
The command thanked residents, traditional leaders, and vigilante groups for their support and urged the public to continue reporting suspicious activities.
“Together, through trust, cooperation, and shared responsibility, we can continue to keep Jigawa State safe and secure for all,” the command appealed.
