The Kaduna Police Command said it has arrested the alleged phone snatcher, Aminu Lawal, popularly known as “Aminu Yayyafi”, who stabbed a passerby to death along Kawo Flyover.

DAILY POST recalls that on March 28, 2026, a passerby near Mamu Oil along Kawo Flyover was attacked by a gang of notorious criminals and dispossessed of his mobile phone.

However, police operatives permanently stationed under the bridge promptly responded, rushed to the scene, and immediately conveyed the victim to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital for urgent medical attention. The victim, however, died, as confirmed by the doctor on duty.

Reacting on Sunday in a statement, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mansir Hassan, Police Public Relations Officer for the Kaduna State Command, said the police arrested one suspect who confessed to the crime, while efforts are being intensified to apprehend his accomplices.

According to him, Commissioner of Police Rabiu Muhammad directed the area commander, the divisional police officer, and other tactical teams to act decisively and hunt down the remaining suspects.

“Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of his gang, while investigation continues to ensure all those involved are brought to justice,” the statement said.

The Commissioner of Police further urged members of the public to remain calm, assuring that the police are on top of the situation.
