Police have arrested four suspects in connection with banditry and cattle rustling in Kaduna State and recovered 65 cows in Chikun Local Government Area.
The suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command during an operation carried out by the anti-kidnapping unit at about 5 am on January 10, 2026, in the Kakura area of Chikun Local Government Area.
The police spokesman, Mansir Hassan, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the arrests followed actionable intelligence.
According to the statement, “The suspects are identified as Ibrahim Shuaibu, also known as Magaji, and Buhari Ibrahim, both of Kakura; Musa Haruna of Gora; and Abdullahi Idi of Dan Damisa, Zaria.”
A total of 65 cows, suspected to have been stolen, were recovered from the suspects during the operation.
The spokesman explained that preliminary investigations revealed that two of the suspects, said to be cattle rearers, confessed that the animals were brought to them by one Kyauta, a suspected bandit from Izuwa, who is currently at large.
Hassan said the command’s efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspect.
He added that the Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, urged members of the public to remain vigilant and to support the police with timely and credible information to aid the fight against kidnapping, banditry and other criminal activities.
He assured residents of the state of the command’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against criminal elements and bringing all perpetrators to justice.
