The Western Regional Police Command has arrested five suspects in connection with the murder of John Abban, the brother of the chief of Butre and Asemkor.
Abban was attacked and killed on 6 October 2025 at Asemkor in the Agona Nkwanta District, in an incident linked to a chieftaincy dispute.
The suspects fled the town after the murder. However, through sustained intelligence operations, police arrested three of them – Kennedy Abor (alias Abongo, 30), Kojo Attah Panyi (20) and Joseph Basses (30) – at their hideout in Funko on 15 October.
In a follow-up operation on 21 October, the Regional Intelligence Directorate, working with a team from Accra, apprehended the two main suspects – Abraham Cudjoe (alias Yalle, 39) and Ekow Painstil (45) – at their hideout in Afuaman Ayigbe Town in the Ga West municipality.
All five are in police custody assisting with investigations and will soon be arraigned.
