Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, on Monday, inaugurated the Protocol Sub-Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ahead of the party’s convention scheduled for November, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

While conducting the process in his capacity as the Chairman of the Protocol Sub-Committee at the at the Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja, Mutfwang said it was a crucial step that signals the party’s readiness for the 2027 elections and reaffirms the PDP’s strength, discipline, and unity despite the crisis that has dogged the party in recent years.

He further declared that though the PDP has suffered serious setbacks including unnecessary infighting and the defection of some of its key members to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, the PDP is still a strong force to reckon with and was not only prepared, but determined to host a seamless, world-class political convention with a renewed confidence ahead of the general elections.

Gov. Mutfwang noted that with the inauguration of the Protocol Sub-Committee, the PDP is setting the political stage ablaze once again, as preparations have reached top gear for its much-anticipated Elective Convention.

Speaking during the inauguration, Gov. Mutfwang said: “Today’s meeting demonstrates that the PDP is very much alive, and we are taking the convention very seriously.

“That is why we are approaching our assignment with every sense of responsibility. I have always maintained that the founding fathers of the PDP would not wish to see the party die in our time. We, therefore, have a sacred responsibility to keep this platform alive and strong for the people of Nigeria.”

The Plateau governor emphasized that the role of the protocol team is pivotal to the convention’s success, urging members to bring their wealth of experience and professionalism to ensure a smooth and memorable outing.

He explained that the inauguration was not just ceremonial but an avenue for members to bond, strategize, and build synergy toward delivering a flawless convention experience in Ibadan, one that would restore confidence among Nigerians.

He stressed that the PDP remains the most credible, people-oriented political platform in Nigeria and indeed across Sub-Saharan Africa and will continue to uphold its values and reposition it as the trusted vehicle for Nigeria’s democratic renewal.
