PDP conducts chapter congress on Saturday in Akwa Ibom

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Akwa Ibom State Chapter has announced plans to conduct its chapter congresses on Saturday, August 10 across the 31 local government areas of the state to elect the Chapter Executive Committee members.

This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the state publicity secretary of the party, Borono Bassey.

Bassey said the exercise was in adherence to extant provisions of the constitution of PDP; the guidelines and timetable released by the National Headquarters of the Party.

He urged those aspiring to serve in the Chapter Executive Committees in their respective Local Government Areas, who have been screened and cleared to contest to present themselves for election at the Chapter offices of the Party across the State from 10:00 am prompt.

He added that only the 3 Ad-hoc delegates recently elected at the Ward Congresses will constitute the Electoral College for the Congress.

The statement in parts, “Akwa Ibom State Chapter hereby notifies members of our party that it will conduct the Congress to elect Chapter Executive Committee Members, tomorrow Saturday, August 10, 2024.

“The Chapter Congress is expected to take place across all the 31 Local Government Areas in Akwa Ibom State.

“Take notice that only the 3 Ad-hoc Delegates recently elected at the Ward Congresses will constitute the Electoral College for this Congress.

“The State Executive Committee of our party enjoins stakeholders and members to conduct themselves in an orderly manner to ensure a peaceful, fair and credible exercise.”
