Hot SourceThe Oyo State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has raised an alarm over alleged plans by a broadcast station to take over its land.
The union raised the concerns in a communique issued at the end of its emergency meeting.
The communique was signed by the trio of Abiodun Atilola (State Information Chapel) Chairman, Musliudeen Adebayo (Correspondent chapel) Secretary and Mosunmola Akinola (MOAK Chapel) member.
The union alleged plans by the management of the broadcast to trespass and encroach on a parcel of land belonging to it.
The union in the communique also said that the land in question had been in possession of the union for years and backed with a Certificate of Occupancy issued by the ministry of lands, housing and urban development, Oyo State.
It, however, called on the management of the broadcast station to stop any attempt to forcefully take over the land.
The union in the communique called on the state Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, to intervene.
It also alerted security agencies of the development.
The communique made available to DAILY POST on Saturday reads “That the congress called on the owners of Dominion Broadcast to stop any attempt to trespass or encroach on a parcel of land belonging to the union.
“The congress called on the Oyo State Government under the leadership of Engineer Seyi Makinde to call the owner of the broadcast station to order. The congress also called on the security agencies to be alerted on this development.
