Osun: NULGE applauds police for securing LG secretariats

The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Osun State Council, has commended the Osun State Police Command for assuring adequate security across all local government secretariats in the state.
The commendation followed the Police Command’s pledge to maintain law and order as local government workers prepare to resume duties on Monday.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the President of NULGE in Osun State, Comrade Nathaniel Ogungbangbe, acknowledged the prompt and professional response of the police.
Ogungbangbe said the command’s assurance of safety for lives and property had addressed concerns among union members regarding security at their workplaces.
“The proactive stance of the Osun State Police Command demonstrates responsibility and commitment to their constitutional duty of maintaining public peace,” he said.
He noted that the assurance had reassured workers and created a sense of confidence ahead of the resumption of official duties across the councils.
According to him, “the position of the police has reinforced the union’s confidence in the capacity of security agencies to act impartially in the interest of public order.”
The NULGE president reaffirmed the union’s commitment to peaceful engagement, due process, and responsible unionism in all its activities.
He also urged local government employees to cooperate fully with security agencies and to conduct themselves in a lawful and orderly manner.
The Osun State Police Command, in a statement by its Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Alade-Giwa Emmanuel, on Friday warned against plans to disrupt activities at local government secretariats across the state on Monday.
The police command also revealed that it had intelligence indicating that some individuals were planning to orchestrate violence on Monday as NULGE members resume work throughout the state.
