The Corps Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, Isaac Omoyele, narrowly escaped assassination after being attacked by armed gunmen.

The incident, DAILY POST gathered, occurred late on Monday at about 10:05 p.m. along Ikirun Road, Osogbo.

It was gathered that the Osun Amotekun boss was reportedly ambushed by heavily armed men who opened fire on his private vehicle shortly after he left the Amotekun Corps Headquarters for his home.

A statement by the spokesperson of the security agency, Yusuf Idowu Abass disclosed that the incident has been reported at the Nigerian Police, Ota-Efun Division, Osogbo.

Also, Omoyele has been admitted to undisclosed hospital where he is treating injuries sustained as a result of gunshots.

The statement said, “The Commander sustained gunshot injuries and is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed medical facility. His condition is said to be stable, and he is under protective watch.

“The case has been officially reported to the Ota-Efun Police Division, and investigations are currently underway. However, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and the motive remains unclear.”
