One woman has died and at least 20 others are receiving treatment after a dawn collision on the Cape Coast–Accra highway.
The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. in front of the NDC Regional Office in Cape Coast when a Mercedes Sprinter minibus (registration CR 623-25) travelling toward Cape Coast rammed a stationary Man Diesel truck (registration WR 1546-V).
According to eyewitnesses, the truck had broken down and was parked on the roadside when the minibus, reportedly overtaking other vehicles, slammed into it.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) rescue team arrived to find several passengers trapped in the wreckage. Three victims were extricated from the mangled vehicle, but one was pronounced dead at the scene.
Eighteen others, along with the remaining injured passengers, were assisted by GNFS personnel and the National Ambulance Service before being taken to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.
The National Road Safety Authority and the Ghana Police Service joined the response, helping to clear the highway and manage traffic as investigations began into the cause of the accident.
