Nursing trainees receive six months’ allowance payment

The Ministry of Health has confirmed the disbursement of GHC 462 million to over 120,000 nursing trainees across the country.

The amount, which covers a six-month period, is in fulfilment of a promise made by President John Dramani Mahama during the recent election campaign.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Health, the funds cover allowances for over 120,000 nursing students and form part of a broader effort to support and motivate future healthcare professionals.

The disbursement process began on Wednesday (16 June) and is expected to continue through to next Friday.

“The Ministry of Health can confirm that an amount of GHS 462 million has been disbursed to support the training allowances of 120,000 nursing students across the country,” the statement read.

“This development is a significant step in improving the welfare of nursing trainees and sustaining the motivation of future health professionals,” the statement added.

It added that the disbursement aligns with ongoing plans to strengthen the healthcare system by investing in critical human resources.

The Ministry expressed its appreciation to President Mahama for keeping his word, and also thanked all stakeholders involved in the timely release and distribution of the funds.

It assured the public of its continued commitment to working closely with training institutions to ensure the delivery of quality healthcare education nationwide.
