The Edo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has mourned its Commandant, Gbenga Agun.
DAILY POST reports that the NSCDC commandant on Thursday slumped and died in an event organised by the International Association of World Peace Advocates.
Agun, who was also named as a recipient of an award at the occasion, slumped and died shortly after delivering his keynote address.
In a statement, the State Command of the security agency described the deceased as an astute operations officer who worked tirelessly to ensure the protection of lives and property of citizens.
The statement signed by Ogbebor Efosa, the Command’s Public Relations Officer said the Edo State NSCDC and the nation have lost a dedicated officer.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Commandant Agun Gbenga, Commandant of NSCDC Edo State Command.
“Commandant Agun Gbenga collapsed after delivering his goodwill message at an event organized by the International Association of World Peace Advocates at Bishop Kelly Pastoral Center in Benin City. He was rushed to the Military Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“As an astute operations officer, Commandant Agun Gbenga worked tirelessly to ensure the protection of lives and property of citizens.
“His humility, friendliness, and intelligence earned him great respect and admiration. His dedication to duty and commitment to excellence will be deeply missed.
“The NSCDC Edo State Command and the nation have lost a dedicated officer,” the statement read.
