NPFL: Kwara United duo set for move abroad

Liverpool manager, Arne Slot, held showdown talks with Mohamed Salah on Friday morning, according to Daily Mail.

Slot dropped Salah for their trip to Inter Milan in the Champions League in midweek.

It came after the Egyptian winger granted an explosive interview, taking a dig at the club’s hierarchy last Saturday.

Salah claimed he had been “thrown under the bus” and had “no relationship” with Slot.

The Egyptian’s outburst had led to speculations that this weekend’s league fixture with Brighton will be his last for the club.

Slot said: “I will have a conversation with Mo this morning and the outcome of that conversation determines how it will look tomorrow.

“I have no reasons not wanting him to stay, if that is a little bit of an answer.”

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will receive $15,000 for finishing third at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, DAILY POST reports.

The bonus was initially meant for the semi-final where they lost 4-2 on penalities to hosts Atlas Lions of Morocco.

The players have received all their win-bonus except for the third- place match, according to SCORENigeria.

Wealthy businessman Abdul Samad Rabiu has also  redeemed his pledge of $500,000 to the team.

The players have already dispersed to their respective clubs.

They failed to attend the medal presentation ceremony on Sunday.

AFCON 2025: Super Eagles get special bonus for third place

Former international, Waidi Akanni says the Super Eagles failed to prepare for penalty shootout in their defeat to Morocco.

The Atlas Lions edged out the Super Eagles 4-2 on penalities in their semi-final encounter in Rabat on Thursday night.

Both teams could not be separated after 120 minutes of football.

Morocco converted four of their five spot kicks, while the Super Eagles scored two from four.

Samuel Chukwueze, and Bruno Onyemaechi missed for Nigeria.

Akanni said the Super Eagles didn’t envisage the game going into penalty.

“Lack of preparedness cost the Super Eagles the penalty shootout against Morocco.

“Again, this is all football, and there is nothing the players can do about it,” Akanni told Afrosports.

Nigeria will battle the Pharaohs of Egypt for third position on Saturday.
