Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has confirmed that three players will not be available to play against Club Brugge in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Arteta revealed this on Tuesday during his pre-match press conference.

Max Dowman has suffered an ankle injury, while William Saliba is still not available.

Declan Rice is ill and Leandro Trossard who came on as a sub against Aston Villa last weekend, is injured the same area again.

Arteta said: “With Max [Dowman], unfortunately he picked an injury last weekend and he had to come off. So we did some scans and he’s going to be out for a while, for weeks.

“And then we have the situation of Gabi [Jesus], which we’re expecting to be training with us by the end of December. But Gabi’s been pushing. Every single day, and he kept telling everybody, ‘I’m going to be earlier, earlier, earlier,’ and he’s done it.

“So thanks to his work and all the work that the medical staff have done with him throughout these months, we had the possibility to make a swap there. We’ve done it. Once you see obviously Max and his situation, and once you see obviously the joy and how happy Gabi is to be back in this competition with us.

“So Declan [Rice]was ill, so he was quite sick after the game already. And he hasn’t traveled with us. William [Saliba] is still not available. And Leo [Trossard], again, he picked another knock in an area where he had the previous issue. And I don’t expect that it’s going to be long. But unfortunately, he cannot be with us.”

Ex-England midfielder, Joe Cole, has predicted the Carabao Cup final between Arsenal and Manchester City.

These two top teams in the Premier League face off for the first big trophy of the season, on Sunday.

Arsenal defeated Chelsea 4-2 on aggregate to get to the final, and Manchester City beat Newcastle in the semi-finals.

“I watched Man City leave, and I still think Arsenal will beat them,” Cole said on The Dressing Room podcast.

“It’s going to be a great game for neutrals.

He added, “I also predict there will be some rough stuff between the Arsenal and City benches.”

Rivers United technical adviser, Finidi George, has described his team’s away victory over Plateau United as an important one for his team.

The Pride of Rivers moved to second position in the league table with 30 points from 15 matches after a 2-1 win over Plateau United in Jos.

Finidi commended his players for playing with determination in the game.

“It’s an important win,” Finidi told Rivers United media after the game.

“I felt in the first half we struggled a little bit. Coming in the second half, we pushed a little more, pressed a bit higher, forced them to kick the long balls and look for the second ball which gave an edge. While we won the second balls we had the whole field to operate.”

Rivers United will battle with Wikki Tourists in their next league encounter on Sunday.
