The Controller of the Federal Fire Service, Niger State Command, Assistant Controller Alikali Mohammad, has disclosed that between January and December 2025, the state capital recorded a total of 430 fire outbreaks.
Mohammad, who made this disclosure while speaking to newsmen in Minna, revealed that the command promptly responded by dispatching officers and men to all incidents to contain the fires and prevent further damage.
He also revealed that the command saved several lives and properties worth billions of naira during the infernos that occurred in various parts of the metropolis.
However, the Controller attributed the success to the synergy between his command and the Niger State Fire Service, while emphasizing their collaborative efforts in discharging statutory functions to safeguard lives and property.
According to him, “To promote fire safety, the command organizes a national fire safety week every last quarter, sensitizing the public through visits to worship places, schools, markets, and government organizations.”
Mohammad lamented that many residents lack knowledge of the command’s emergency lines, urging the public to reach out with useful information to enhance fire safety.
He further attributed some fire disasters to negligence and advised residents to abide by fire safety rules and regulations to forestall such incidents in the state.
