BON HOTEL MANAGER PASSED AWAY, ILAJI HOTELS AND SPORTS RESORT SYMPATHIZES WITH THEM.

 On Thursday 18th January, 2024, BON Hotel Ibadan, announced the passing away of its Operations Manager, Mr. Tunde Solomon.

 The deceased was said to have died of a heart attack after the shock he suffered from the explosion that occurred in the Bodija axis near the BON Hotel, his place of work. The explosion which rocked Dejo Oyelese street last Tuesday night, claiming many lives, with over 77 people injured, and casualties to both lives and properties across the region. 

Mr. Solomon suffered a heart attack on the 17th of January 2024 and it is believed that it was a consequence of the shock experienced as a result of the explosion which occurred on the 16th of January 2024 at the Bodija Axis.”

 While mourning the deceased on the hotel’s Instagram page, @bonhotelibadan, the management of the hotel described its late Operations Manager as a selfless and dedicated worker who had been using his 25 years in the industry for the growth of their organization.

The management described that; “Mr. Tunde Solomon was a vastly experienced member of staff with more than 25 years in the industry. His commitment to his role and his contributions to the growth of BON Hotel  Ibadan and the BON group in general during his tenure were invaluable.” His loss leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Ilaji Resort’s Chairman/Chief Executive, Chief (Engr.) Dotun Sanusi, and the entire members of staff extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Solomon during this difficult time. We pray for them and keep them in our thoughts as they deal with this challenge.

Amazing Performance as Ilaji FC U16 Boys Face Ekiti in the well anticipated finals

The conclusion of the week-long Ilaji U-16 National football tournament is set for this Saturday, featuring an exciting showdown among Nigeria’s talented young players.

In the upcoming final, the home team, Ilaji U-16, will face off against their counterparts from Ekiti State, marking the culmination of a challenging journey for all participating teams.

In the lead-up to this decisive stage, the Ilaji boys secured a 2-0 victory against Sanusi Boys, while the Ekiti team triumphed over Kwara with a 2-1 scoreline in the semi-finals. Notably, teams such as Lagos, Kebbi, Ogun, Katsina, and Oyo displayed outstanding performances throughout the tournament.

Anticipation for the final match is high, with dignitaries from various spheres expected to grace the event. Notable attendees include Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Commissioner of Youth and Sports Wosilat Adegoke, and Ademola Olajire, the Director of Media and Publicity for the Nigeria Football Federation.

Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort partner with YSFON to host the National U16 Boys Soccer Championship

The Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) has disclosed the commencement of the inaugural Ilaji National U-16 Boys Football Tournament scheduled to take place from November 27 to December 3 at Ilaji Stadium and Resort Centre in Akanran, Ibadan, Oyo State.

In an official communication issued by the Federation and endorsed by its National Secretary, Patrick Okpavuerhe, state chapters are urged to prepare their teams, consisting of 20 players, for the upcoming competition. The statement emphasizes that participants must be below the age of 16 years as of December 15, 2023, possess a body weight of 58 kg, and have a height of 175 meters. Each team should be accompanied by three officials, one of whom must be a YSFON official.

States are reminded that teams are expected to arrive on Monday, November 27. The statement assures that a member of the National Organising Committee and an official from the Oyo State YSFON will be present to receive the participating teams. Additionally, states are advised to confirm their team rosters by Friday, November 17, to facilitate the national secretariat in making the necessary arrangements for items such as T-shirts.

Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort Join Forces with Ajara Humanitarian Foundation to Empower Youth Through Football: A Pinnacle of Glitz, Kits, and Awards

In a display of glitz and glamour, Ilaji Hotel and Resorts, a prominent establishment in Ibadan with a keen interest in youth development, joined forces with the Ajara Humanitarian Foundation to contribute to the ongoing Ajara U-17 Football Competition in Osogbo. This collaborative effort saw the donation of kits and award plaques to the young athletes participating in the quarter-finals of the tournament, which boasts over two hundred and fifty secondary school students in its second edition.

The Ajara Humanitarian Foundation, a non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting and promoting youth empowerment through education and talent discovery, received the generous contribution from Ilaji Hotel and Resorts. The foundation has a track record of providing life skills to youths within and outside the state. The Executive Director of the foundation, Alhaji Dr. Adebayo Jimoh, expressed his gratitude during a brief event at his Osogbo residence where the kits, medals, and plaques were handed over. He commended the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Ilaji Hotel and Resorts, represented by Coach Zico and Coach Sesan, for their commitment to the project.

Ilaji FC’s contribution included the donation of four sets of jerseys for the semi-finalists, awards for the Most Valuable Player (MVP), highest goal scorer, best goalkeeper, most behaved team, and best coach. The football competition, powered by US-based Dr. Lanre Jimoh, aligns with his passion for youth empowerment, reflecting the values of his father, Alhaji Bayo Jimoh, a former group managing director of the Odua Investment Company.

With Ataoja High School and Rex-Varsity already qualifying for the semi-finals, having defeated Osogbo Grammar School and Salvation GS, the tournament promises more exciting duels. An-Nur School is set to face off against Islamic School, while Ido Osun High School will clash with Ham Zainab in the other quarter-final fixtures. The ultimate prize for the winner is a cash reward of one million and two hundred and fifty thousand Naira (N1,250,000.00) along with a prestigious trophy, while the runner-up will receive half a million Naira. Souvenirs await all participating schools, adding an extra layer of encouragement and appreciation for their involvement in this youth-focused initiative.

Management of ILAJI FC mourns the untimely death of Referee Rafiu Kazeem Opeyemi

The Oyo State Football Association (OYSFA) has been left in
a state of shock following the untimely demise of one of Nigeria’s most distinguished football referees, Rafiu Kazeem Opeyemi. The tragic incident occurred as a result of a fatal accident that took place on Saturday evening in Osu, Ilesha, Osun State.

 Late Kazeem, a prominent member of the Nigeria Referees
Association (NRA), the Oyo State Referees Council, and also the chairman of the Ona Ara Referees Society, was returning from a fitness evaluation in Abuja. He was accompanied by four other Nigerian referees. Tragically, while the other referees sustained varying degrees of injuries and are presently undergoing medical treatment, Kazeem lost his life in the accident.

In response to this sorrowful occurrence, HRM Oba James Odeniran, the Chairman of the Oyo State Football Association, expressed profound grief and condolences for the passing that transpired on the previous day (Saturday).

 

A condolence message issued and signed by Mr. Kehinde Adebayo Ojelowo, the association’s secretary, described Late Rafiu Kazeem Opeyemi as a young man with a promising future ahead. He was recognized for excelling in his vocation and profession, and for having diligently earned the respect of his colleagues and acquaintances both in Oyo state and across Nigeria.

 

“The news of Kazeem’s passing has left us in a state of deep sorrow. This is a heart-wrenching loss because he was a young individual with a bright future ahead. Without a doubt, he was one of the most dedicated and accomplished football referees in our midst. His dedication to his profession was unwavering, but regrettably, we have lost Kazeem,” the statement lamented.

 

“We pray that the Almighty will grant him eternal rest and absolution for his sins. Our thoughts are also with those he has left behind, including his immediate family, friends, and associates, as well as his fellow referees, the NRA, and the entire Nigerian football community. May they find the strength to bear this monumental loss,” the statement continued.

Despite this profound loss, the Oyo State Football Association extends their heartfelt sympathies to the family of late Kazeem Opeyemi. Additionally, they wish a swift recovery to Ajadi Odunayo, Oni Ebenezer Segun, and Amos, a fellow association member from Ogun State, who were also involved in the accident.

Ona-Ara Boxing Coaches Association Execs and Ilaji Sports Academy Management sit-down to discuss Grassroot Boxing Development

A meeting held between the management team and the Ona-Ara Boxing Association. The meeting was held to discuss the growth of grassroots boxing within the local community and in the state while drawing attention to the Resorts Boxing Academy

The meeting was productive and fruitful. The management team and the Ona-Ara Boxing Association agreed that grassroots boxing is an important part of the community and should be promoted. They also discussed ways to increase participation in boxing within the Resort.

The Ona-Ara Boxing Association emphasized that it is important to provide opportunities for young people to participate in boxing. They suggested that more resources should be allocated towards grassroots boxing programs, such as organising local bouts and creating massive publicity for the  program  The management team agreed with this suggestion and promised to look into ways to improving grassroot boxing programs

The meeting also discussed ways to promote grassroots boxing within the local community with hopes of pushing the boundaries beyond the region. The Ona-Ara Boxing Association suggested that more events should be organized to showcase local talent. They also suggested that more media coverage should be given to grassroots boxing events. The management team agreed with these suggestions and promised to work towards promoting grassroots boxing within the local community.

In conclusion, the meeting between the management team and the Ona-Ara Boxing Association was a success. Both parties agreed on the importance of promoting grassroots boxing within the local community and in the state while working on plans to organise boxing competitions in the coming days. They also discussed ways to increase participation in boxing at the grassroots level. We hope that this meeting will lead to positive changes in the future of grassroots boxing.
