Amazing Performance as Ilaji FC U16 Boys Face Ekiti in the well anticipated finals

The conclusion of the week-long Ilaji U-16 National football tournament is set for this Saturday, featuring an exciting showdown among Nigeria’s talented young players.

In the upcoming final, the home team, Ilaji U-16, will face off against their counterparts from Ekiti State, marking the culmination of a challenging journey for all participating teams.

In the lead-up to this decisive stage, the Ilaji boys secured a 2-0 victory against Sanusi Boys, while the Ekiti team triumphed over Kwara with a 2-1 scoreline in the semi-finals. Notably, teams such as Lagos, Kebbi, Ogun, Katsina, and Oyo displayed outstanding performances throughout the tournament.

Anticipation for the final match is high, with dignitaries from various spheres expected to grace the event. Notable attendees include Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Commissioner of Youth and Sports Wosilat Adegoke, and Ademola Olajire, the Director of Media and Publicity for the Nigeria Football Federation.

As a contribution to youth development, the tournament sponsors generously provided sets of jerseys to the finalists. Engr Dotun Sanusi, CEO of Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort Center, conveyed this gesture through his representative, Chief Operating Officer Prince Adesina Araoye, expressing the intent to encourage the teams and contribute to a brighter future for the young players.

The tournament organizers, the Youth Sport Federation Of Nigeria (YSFON), were also acknowledged with various trophies, including awards for the best goalkeeper, Most Valuable Player, and highest goal scorers. YSFON National Secretary Patrick Okpavhuere and Vice President South/West Abayomi Rafiu Alabi expressed gratitude to the sponsors for their support, pledging to sustain the positive momentum.

Notably, 17 players were identified by football scouts from Malta, led by Dr. Justin Fenech, President of SwieQi FC, showcasing the tournament’s potential to uncover emerging talent. The inaugural edition of the Ilaji U-16 National football tournament is viewed as a significant opportunity for Nigerian youths, and its successful conclusion is expected to contribute to the upliftment of football in the country.
