Newmont pays GHC 2.38 bn to govt in Q3, total 2025 payments near GHC 10 bn

Newmont Africa has once again demonstrated its significant role in Ghana’s economy, announcing that it paid GHC2.388 billion to the government in the third quarter of 2025.

The payments, made through the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), the Forestry Commission, and the Ministry of Finance, reflect the mining giant’s ongoing contribution to national fiscal stability.

According to the company, the latest disbursement covers a mix of corporate tax, capital gains tax, mineral royalties, carried interest, PAYE, and withholding tax, with corporate tax alone accounting for GHC1.192 billion. Capital gains tax contributed GHC511 million, while mineral royalties amounted to GHC309 million. Carried interest added GHC234 million, PAYE contributed GHC75 million and withholding tax totalled GHC67 million.

Newmont said the figures highlight not only the scale of its operations but also the company’s commitment to transparency, responsible resource management, and building strong economic partnerships with the state.

“These payments illustrate our continued dedication to Ghana’s growth and the shared value approach we have adopted in all our operations,” the company stated, adding that it remains focused on supporting mining communities and strengthening institutional collaboration.

With this latest disbursement, Newmont’s year-to-date payments from January to September 2025 have surged to GHC9.874 billion, reinforcing its position as a key contributor to the country’s economic development.

The company also confirmed it will continue to work closely with government agencies to ensure that revenues from mining directly support infrastructure, community development projects, and long-term economic resilience.
