Nigerian senator and businessman, Prince Ned Nwoko, has refuted circulating claims suggesting that he married his wife, actress Regina Daniels, when she was 17 years old. He described the allegations as “entirely untrue and misleading.”
In a statement shared on social media, Senator Nwoko clarified that during his first meeting with Regina, he inquired about her age, and she confirmed that she was 21 at the time. He added that she presented her voter’s ID card, which indicated that she was born on 10 October 1998.
“For clarity, during my first meeting with Regina, I asked her age, and she told me she was 21 years old. I further asked if she had any document to support this, and she presented her INEC voter’s card, which clearly shows that she was born on October 10th, 1998,” he stated.
According to the senator, their marriage took place six years ago, meaning Regina Daniels is now 27 years old. He emphasised that any suggestion that she was underage at the time of their marriage “is false and should not be accepted by the public.”
Senator Nwoko urged the public to treat recent claims about their marriage with caution, stressing that all verifiable records confirm the authenticity of his account.
