Ministry of Education hails UDS football team’s global victory

The Ministry of Education, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the University for Development Studies (UDS) football team for their outstanding victory in the finals of the 2025 World University Games held in Dalian, China.

Describing the feat as a historic achievement, the Ministry praised the UDS team for exemplifying values such as discipline, resilience, teamwork  and excellence on the global stage.

Contained in a statement issued on behalf of the Minister by the Press Secretary , Hashmin Mohammed ,the Ministry indicated that “Every pass, every goal and every sacrifice on the field reflected not only your pursuit of victory but also the spirit of Ghana and the enduring character of our people.”

“This is not just a sporting victory , it is a clear demonstration that with unity of purpose and unwavering determination, great heights can be attained,”, the statement read .

The Ministry emphasized the continental significance of the win, noting that UDS is now the first African university to win this prestigious global trophy.

 The victory, according to the Ministry, is a moment of national pride and also serves to elevate Africa’s image on the world stage.

“This triumph is a beacon of hope and inspiration to young people everywhere,” the Ministry added.

“It proves that hard work, perseverance and vision can break barriers and set new standards of excellence”, it added.
