Security forces in Benue State have intensified joint operations under Operation Restore Peace, focusing on the troubled Sankara axis.

Daily Post gathered that aerial surveillance on September 26 spotted heavily armed bandits near the Takum boundary between Benue and Taraba States. Plans are reportedly underway for a Nigerian Air Force airborne strike in the area.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) convened a security stakeholders’ meeting at the Katsina-Ala Area Command, where the Benue Government pledged support for the burial of personnel killed during a September 19 operation.

According to sources, the state government is providing N500,000 each for burial expenses, while chairmen of the three Sankara local governments have also promised assistance, including intelligence to aid ongoing efforts.

Security agencies reaffirmed their commitment to restoring peace and safeguarding communities across the state.
