Governor of Enugu State, Dr Peter Mbah, and his counterparts in Cross River and Delta states, Bassey Otu and Sheriff Oborevwori, respectively, have felicitated with the Muslim ummah in their various states and across the nation on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, calling for love, tolerance, peace, unity and a sense of sacrifice among Nigerians to move the nation forward.

Mbah spoke, yesterday, in his goodwill message to the Muslim faithful, stressing that the current socio-economic challenges would ultimately abate through the collective sacrifice and commitment to nation-building by all Nigerians.

He said: “I extend warm greetings to our Muslim brothers and sisters in Enugu State in particular and across the nation on this occasion of Eid-el-Kabir.”

“As we celebrate, let us also reflect on and imbibe the essence of sacrifice, charity, love, service, peace, unity, humility, and submission to the command of God that this occasion represents.

On his own part, the Cross River governor, Otu, enjoined the Muslim faithful to imbibe the values of sacrifice, unity and compassion as necessary ingredients to build a greater and prosperous state and, by extension, Nigeria.

In a goodwill message released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Linus Obogo, the governor stressed the significance of the occasion, saying: “It serves as a reminder of the diverse and resilient state that everyone of us is a part of.

“It is a time for reflection on shared traditions and aspirations that bind us together.”

Also, the Delta State Governor, Oborevwori, yesterday, urged Nigerian Muslims to follow the footsteps of Prophet Mohammed by imbibing the principles of selflessness, which he demonstrated.

Oborevwori also urged other Nigerians, regardless of their faith or ethnicity, to keep up their peaceful coexistence and to love and care for one another.

While congratulating Delta and Nigerian Muslims as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, the governor said that the celebration is a time of sacrifice, love, harmony, and family time.

In the same vein, the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki tasked Nigerians on perseverance, good neighbourliness and sacrifice in pursuit of a progressive society.

The governor, in a statement to mark the Eid-el-Kabir festivities, urged the Muslim faithful to espouse these virtues, which are the hallmark of this season.
