Man loses left wrist to hoodlums in Ogun

Ogun State police command has confirmed the attack on a man identified as Yusuf Abubakar, by suspected hoodlums in Isara Remo area of the state.

The victim, a plastic collector, reportedly lost his left wrist in the process.

According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson Omolola Odutola and obtained by DAILY POST on Thursday, the incident happened in Sapaade area of the community.

Odutola stated that the victim had arrived in the community with two of his colleagues to collect used plastic when a group of hoodlums numbered about 20, armed with weapons chased them.

On sighting them, they took to their heels but Abubakar fell to the ground and was captured.

Odutola, quoting the victim, said he was blindfolded, dragged into a nearby bush with his hand tied and his left wrist severed.

Odutola said, ”According to Abubakar, he arrived in Ogun State three days ago. At about 8:00 AM on January 6, 2925, he and two others were in the Sapade area to pick up used plastic water bottles when approximately 20 armed hoodlums suddenly began pursuing them with dangerous weapons.

“He alleged that the hoodlums tied both his hands and legs, blindfolded him, and dragged him into a nearby bush. In a gruesome act, they severed his left wrist before abandoning him.

“Abubakar managed to receive treatment at a hospital before reporting the incident to our division in the area.”

Upon the information, she noted that the Divisional Crime Branch team and Crime Officer visited the scene but found no trace of human activity.

She however assured that an investigation is ongoing to unravel the incident surrounding the attack and urged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to security apparatus.
