Lagos State House of Assembly has approved ₦4,444,509,776,438 (Four Trillion, Four hundred and Forty Four Billion, Five Hundred and Nine Million, Seven Hundred and Seventy-Six Thousand, Four Hundred and Thirty Eight naira) as the total budget for the state in the year 2026.
The assembly made this decision during its plenary held on Thursday.
The plenary was presided by its Speaker, Hon Mudashiru Obasa.
A statement made available to DAILY POST Thursday evening indicated that the approval followed the presentation of a comprehensive report by the Chairman of the House Committee on Economic Planning and Budget, Hon. Sa’ad Olumoh.
Obasa in his reaction, noted that the lawmakers adopt the report through a voice vote.
He added that the decision to approve the budget was supported by the lawmakers.
He said that the budget was passed in order to ensure sustainable development in the state.
Obasa then used the opportunity to direct the Clerk of the House, Barrister Olalekan Onafeko, to transmit a clean copy of the approved bill to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the state for assent.
Sanwo-Olu is expected to assent the law any moment from now.
DAILY POST gathered that Sanwo-Olu had earlier presented a budget proposal of ₦4.23 trillion to the House on November 25, 2025.
