The Kogi state government has urged residents to remain calm following reports of a planned terrorist attack in parts of Kogi and Ondo States.
In a statement, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, said the state government is working closely with security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property.
Fanwo described the intelligence report as evidence of the proactive efforts of the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies, noting that it showed their readiness to protect citizens.
“The report shows that our security agencies are alive to their responsibilities. We commend the DSS for their vigilance and for providing early intelligence to prevent such evil plans from being executed,” he said.
Fanwo assured residents that the state government, in collaboration with the DSS, the Nigerian Army, the Police, and other relevant agencies, is committed to preventing any terrorist activity before it poses a threat.
He advised citizens to go about their normal businesses without fear but to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons or movements to security authorities.
“The government will protect the people at all costs. We will not allow criminals or terror groups to disrupt the peace and progress we have built. Kogi remains one of the safest states in Nigeria, and we intend to keep it that way,” Fanwo emphasized.
