Kofi Jumah was arrested on Sunday, 29 June 2025, at his Kumasi residence by national security officers. The arrest comes after protracted investigations into allegations of financial impropriety and the mismanagement of state vehicles during his time at GIHOC.
Investigations reportedly began in mid-May when officials attempted to retrieve certain government vehicles allegedly in Kofi Jumah’s possession. Several efforts to recover these assets were unsuccessful, culminating in his arrest over the weekend.
Following his arrest, he was transferred to the Ashanti Regional Police Command and later brought to Accra for further questioning at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters.
On Monday, 30 June, he was granted bail under strict conditions, including two sureties who must demonstrate their capacity to cover the bond.
Kofi Jumah, a former Member of Parliament for Asokwa, has yet to release an official statement regarding the accusations. However, his legal representatives insist that he is innocent and are prepared to contest the claims vigorously in court.
The case has stirred considerable public debate, with many calling for a fair and transparent legal process to ensure accountability in state institutions.
It remains unclear when Jumah will reappear before the court to answer to the charges.
