The Kano State House of Assembly has called on the state government to urgently take decisive measures to address the growing insecurity in Bagwai and Shanono Local Government Areas.

The resolution followed an emergency joint motion presented by the member representing Bagwai/Shanono Constituency, Dr. Ali Lawan Kiyawa, and his colleague representing Ghari/Tsanyawa, Garba Ya’u Gwarmai during Tuesday plenary.

While presenting the motion, Dr. Kiyawa expressed concern over the rising cases of killings, kidnappings, and cattle rustling in the affected areas. He noted that the worsening security situation in the two local governments might be linked to their proximity to Katsina State, where insecurity has also intensified in recent times.

In his contribution, Hon. Garba Ya’u Gwarmai urged the state government to deploy more security personnel to the troubled areas and provide additional funds to the affected local councils to help tackle the problem effectively.
