The U.S. Vice President has justified why President Donald Trump’s government sent Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland father, to a torture dungeon in El Salvador.
There were reports that the Trump administration, in a court filing on Monday, admitted that it captured the Maryland father, who had protected legal status, and “mistakenly” deported him to El Salvador.
According to the report, the administration, however, said that U.S. courts lack jurisdiction to order his return from the megaprison where he is being held.
Reacting, Jon Favreau, a former director of speechwriting for former President Barack Obama, criticized the administration in a post on his X handle.
The post, which tagged J.D. Vance and Elon Musk, said, “You just admitted to accidentally sending an innocent father from Maryland to a torture dungeon in El Salvador. And you refuse to do anything about it.”
Commenting on Jon’s post, J.D. Vance claimed that “according to the court document you apparently didn’t read, he (Garcia) was a convicted MS-13 gang member with no legal right to be here.
“My further comment is that it’s gross to get fired up about gang members getting deported while ignoring the citizens they victimize.”
