Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Dr. Wole Oluyede, has described the recent PDP primary that produced him as one of the most peaceful and credible ever conducted in the state.

Speaking with journalists in Ado Ekiti, Oluyede downplayed the internal rifts currently rocking the party, insisting that disagreements are a natural part of democratic organisations and pose no threat to the PDP’s resolve to reclaim Ekiti in the 2026 governorship election.

“Parties always have issues — anywhere in the world. That’s why they are called political parties,” he said. “We will have problems and we will solve them. We have leaders capable of handling these matters.”

He added that the situation in Ekiti was neither alarming nor unusual.

“Politics is local, and I am not running for a national office. I am running to be the governor of Ekiti State. All I need is Ekiti people behind me — and that’s what we’re going to get.”

Oluyede therefore expressed strong confidence in the party’s preparedness, praising the conduct of the PDP primary, which he said defied challenges and exceeded expectations.

“Our party conducted an election that went very well despite all the challenges thrown at us. Many of you here witnessed it. It was probably the most peaceful primary election ever held in this state. We came out strong.”

He reaffirmed that the PDP is united and poised for victory as preparations intensify ahead of 2026
