Hot SourceThe Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has issued a strong warning to the public against falling victim to fraudulent recruitment schemes. It firmly states that no official hiring process is currently underway.
In a statement released on Friday, June 20, the Service noted a surge in misleading messages circulating on social media, falsely claiming that recruitment into the agency was open. It urged job seekers to treat such information with scepticism.
“Management wishes to categorically state that the Service is currently not undertaking any recruitment exercise,” the statement read.
The GIS emphasised that all legitimate recruitment announcements are published solely in the national newspapers Daily Graphic and Ghanaian Times, not on Facebook, WhatsApp, or other social media platforms.
The Service also expressed growing concern over the proliferation of fake accounts and pages impersonating the agency and its personnel online. These fraudulent sources often use images and videos of actual GIS officers to deceive unsuspecting applicants.
“These acts of impersonation constitute criminal offences under Ghanaian law, and perpetrators are strongly warned to desist,” the statement continued.
The public has been urged to report any suspicious offers—particularly those requesting payment in exchange for job placement—to the nearest police station or GIS office.
“To all prospective applicants who seek to serve Ghana with honour, we appreciate your interest and encourage you to remain vigilant and patient,” the Service added.
The Immigration Service reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining transparent, fair, and lawful recruitment practices.
