“I can’t believe it” – Man thankful as FCT Police recover vehicle stolen on New Year’s eve

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT have recovered a stolen grey Toyota Corolla, registration number KWL 738 BB belonging to one Mr Kaseem Mustapha.

DAILY POST gathered that the vehicle was stolen in the wee hours of Tuesday, New Year’s Eve.

It was gathered that luck ran out on the suspect when operatives of the Scorpion Squad, led by ASP Momoh, who were on their routine patrol spotted the vehicle.

According to the officers, the car’s lone occupant appeared nervous and fidgety at the wheel, raising the squad’s suspicions about ownership of the vehicle.

Following the suspicion, the officers, without hesitation flagged the vehicle down.

However, in a dramatic turn of events monitored by a DAILY POST correspondent, the driver jumped out and fled into the nearby bush, upon sighting the officers.

However, the operatives conducted an immediate digital analysis of the car’s documents and discovered that it belonged to one Mr Kaseem Mustapha, who was still asleep at home, not knowing his car was stolen.

Upon contacting him, Mr Mustapha rushed out of his house only to find out that his car had indeed been taken from its parking spot.

When he rushed to the scene, Mustapha, who expressed excitement upon seeing his vehicle, thanked the officers

He said, “I can’t believe it. You’ve turned what could have been a terrible end to my year into the best New Year’s gift I could ever ask for”.

When contacted by DAILY POST, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh confirmed the incident.

She said the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, who was elated by the development advised residents on the importance of installing security gadgets on vehicles to prevent theft.

“In the unfortunate event of a theft, these devices can significantly assist the police in recovery efforts,” Josephine quoted the CP.
