Hoodlums kill 25-yr-old tailor in Niger

A young tailor named Murtala Hassan was reported killed by suspected hoodlums on Sunday in Niger State.

DAILY POST learnt that the incident occurred in the evening when the deceased was returning from his shop in Sabon Angwa, Chanchaga Local Government Area.

Hassan reportedly ran into the suspected thugs shortly after they had launched an attack on the Kpakungu vigilante security outpost at the Kpakungu roundabout in Minna.

Confirming the tragedy, the Niger State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said in a statement that the police received the information that some miscreants engaged in a fight at the Barkin-Sale area of Minna during an occasion on December 29 at about 11 pm.

He stated that Murtala Hassan, 25, was stabbed dead in the back while making an effort to separate the miscreants.

He said: “Police operatives attached to Kpakungu Division moved to the scene, evacuated the corpse and one Ali Sale of the same area was arrested in connection to the crime.”

He added that investigation and efforts to arrest other culprits are ongoing.
