Health Minister engages World Bank to strengthen Ghana’s health sector

The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has engaged the World Bank in a high-level dialogue aimed at strengthening Ghana’s health sector and advancing government’s healthcare priorities.

The meeting formed part of ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Health to reset and reposition the sector to meet national development goals. Central to the discussions was the resetting agenda, a strategic framework designed to identify priority needs that will drive Ghana’s attainment of Primary Health Care (PHC) and Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

The World Bank reaffirmed its commitment to partner with government in this vision. It emphasised that collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including development partners, civil society and local communities, will be critical to achieving results.

The Bank further noted that universal access to quality healthcare is not only a health goal but also a driver of inclusive development and poverty reduction, reiterating its support to Ghana in realising this ambition.

The engagement signals government’s determination to deepen collaboration with international partners as Ghana pursues innovative policies and investments to improve health outcomes nationwide.
