GIFEC commiserates with victims of the helicopter crash

The Acting Administrator of GIFEC, Mr. Sofo Tanko Rashid-Computer, together with Management and staff of the Fund, on August 14, 2025, laid a wreath in honour of our 8 fallen heroes who lost their lives tragically in the helicopter crash.

The wreath was laid by the Acting Administrator, Mr. Sofo Tanko Rashid Computer and the Board Members on behalf of the staff of GIFEC at the Flagstaff House to honour the heroes of the unfortunate incident

Key amongst them in relation to his affiliation to GIFEC is the late Defense Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah who was the Board Chair of the Fund during his tenure as the Minister of Communication between the period of 2013 and 2017.

The Acting Administrator with his Management and Staff, also paid a solemn visit to the Defense Ministry where Dr. Omane Boamah served as the sector Minister before the tragic incident.

The GIFEC team was welcomed by the Deputy Defense Minister, Mr. Ernest Brogya Gyamfi who took the team through activities leading to the burial of the sector Minister and his departed colleagues

Mr. Tanko Rashid-Computer mentioned some impacts the late Defense Minister had on GIFEC during his time as the Board Chair such as securing the current Ministry of Communications building and accordingly dedicating a floor for the Fund. He also on behalf of the Fund wrote emotional words of condolences at the Ministry before departing.
