In a statement issued on Monday, 11 August 2025, the Funeral Planning Committee extended a heartfelt invitation to individuals, institutions, and organisations to submit messages of condolence and personal tributes for inclusion in the official State Funeral brochure.
Tributes should be sent via email to tributes@presidency.gov.gh no later than Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 12:00 PM GMT.
The State Funeral will take place on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Black Star Square in Accra, beginning at 8:00 AM. The ceremony is expected to bring together dignitaries, family members, friends, and citizens from all walks of life to pay their final respects.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, described the fallen as “patriots whose courage, dedication, and spirit should inspire every Ghanaian to work towards a stronger, more united, and prosperous nation.”
The eight victims—who were on board a military helicopter when it crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom District—are being remembered for their service to the nation and the causes they championed. The State Funeral will not only serve as a moment of national mourning but also as a public affirmation of gratitude for their sacrifice.
As preparations advance, the Committee has stressed that this is an opportunity for Ghanaians, regardless of background or political affiliation, to stand together in grief and gratitude, ensuring that the memories of the departed are preserved in words and spirit.
