Hot SourceThe Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a strong caution to heads of Senior High Schools (SHSs) across the country against turning away students who have been officially placed in their schools through the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).
In a statement signed by the Director of Schools and Instructions Division, Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, on behalf of the Acting Director-General, the GES expressed concern over reports that some heads of schools were refusing admission to placed students.
“Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has observed with concern reports that some heads of Senior High Schools are turning away students who have been placed in their schools under the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS),” the statement read.
The directive reminded all heads that students who have been officially placed by the CSSPS must be received and properly processed for admission according to GES guidelines.
The Service further instructed that any issues regarding placement, programme choice, or accommodation should be promptly referred to the Director-General through the respective Regional Directors of Education for redress, rather than rejecting students outright.
The GES warned that strict compliance with this directive is expected, adding that failure to adhere may attract administrative sanctions.
The circular, dated 20 October 2025, was copied to the Chairman of the GES Council and the Acting Deputy Director-Generals at the GES Headquarters in Accra.
The caution comes amid ongoing complaints from parents and guardians over challenges in the school placement process, particularly regarding the refusal of some heads to accept students allocated to their institutions.
