
The Osun Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has confirmed the death of one person following a fatal lone road traffic crash along the Ilesa–Ipetu route in Osun State on Friday.
The incident according to a statement by the Sector Commander, Leye Adegboyega and issued by the Sector Public Education Officer, Agnes Ogungbemi “occurred at about 2:05 pm, approximately five kilometres from the FRSC base after Iwaraja Junction, near Cele Church, according to an official First Information Report.”
The statement detailed that, “the crash involved a single vehicle, a black Nissan Murano jeep with registration number AAA413KJ, categorised as a private vehicle, the report stated.”
“The crash was fatal in nature, with possible causes identified as speed violation, loss of control and tyre burst.
“A total of four adult males were involved in the incident, with three sustaining injuries, while one adult male was confirmed dead at the scene.
“No uninjured persons were recorded, and no items were recovered from the scene of the crash,” the report added.
“The injured victims were assisted by a good Samaritan, who conveyed them from the crash scene to a hospital within Ilesa town for medical attention.
“The body of the deceased was deposited at the University of Ilesa Teaching Hospital mortuary for preservation and further procedures.
“The crashed vehicle was subsequently towed away from the scene by officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Ijebu-Jesa Division, to ensure free flow of traffic,” the statement said.
