The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that his promise of relocating traders of Apo mechanics to their new site has commenced.

Wike spoke at the flag-off of the construction of the main carriageways of Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) from Ring Road I Junction to Ring Road II Junction along Wasa Road, by Shoprite Junction in Apo area of the FCT.

Wike said the commencement of the process is an indication that all promises made to the FCT people will be fulfilled.

The Minister assured of efforts to decongest the road, saying, “From the Apo junction down to Waasa junction, we made a promise that by the grace of God and with the approval of Mr President, we want to decongest this very heavy traffic area by dualizing this particular road.

“That promise was made and today to the glory of God, we are fulfilling that promise.

“You will remember that I did also say to the Apo traders that we are going to relocate them to their new site. Let me announce to you today that by the grace of God, we have received the cost of providing infrastructure from the Executive Secretary of FCDA to provide infrastructure in the new site you will be relocated to.

“So for us, every promise made by this administration under the leader of Mr President, be assured that we shall fulfill all the promises we have made to the people of the FCT.

“You will agree with me that this road is very important, infact, before the Apo junction to Wassa was done, you hardly can imagine how many hours it will take you when coming into the city. But I thank God that we are trying to do all we can to give the people of the FCT the happiness that they desire.

The Minister said the provision of infrastructural projects in the FCT can be linked to President Bola Tinubu’s purposeful and decisive leadership.

He noted that he’s setting a standard for any Minister that would come after him must follow suit.

“Everybody is talking about projects in FCT, was he the first president in this country? No. When you get the right leadership, you will see how things will change.

“Whatever we are seeing today in FCT is due to the purposeful leadership of Mr President because we want to set a standard that whoever you have appointed must follow suit, so we thank him particularly for the people of FCT, they have seen the impact of good leadership,” he said.

Wike further reveals plans to partner with former Supreme Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo in the interest of Abuja youths.

“Let me thank my brother Joseph Yobo, former captain of the Supreme Eagles who has come here to follow other leaders from Rivers State to give us support.

“We want to commend you and will see ways to partner with you in the interest of youths in Abuja,” he added.
