Eid-el-Kabir: We have adopted proactive measures for seamless celebration – Niger CP

The Niger State Commissioner of Police, CP, Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman has directed Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and DPOs to adopt proactiveness through intelligence gathering in their areas of jurisdiction towards ensuring a seamless and peaceful Sallah celebration.

The Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, who made this disclosure in Minna in a statement on behalf of the CP said, the officers are expected to raid all blackspots within their areas of responsibility

Abiodun explained that the officers have been directed to mobilize operational assets such as Anti-riot water cannons, gun trucks, and patrol vehicles and ensure adequate deployment of Police personnel for visibility policing, show of force and observation points at all entry and exit of the State for water-tight security arrangements before, during and after the festivity.

” In addition to this, the CP also directs Tactical Commanders to endure sufficient deployment of tactical teams such as the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Explosive Ordnance Disposal – Chemical Biological Radiological & Nuclear (EOD-CBRN), Tactical Support Team (TST) and Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) of the Command to Eid grounds, recreation centres, amusement parks and other strategic public places in the State”.

” Consequently, an Operation Order has been issued to Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and DPOs of their specific responsibility to provide reliable security coverage and ensure free flow of traffic at every assigned Eid ground, with thorough supervision of men deployed in accordance to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP),” the statement further said.

The Command also warned members of the public, parents and guardians to ensure a firm grip on their wards, as the Police and other security agencies will not tolerate any act of thuggery and youth disorder during and after the festive period.

“Therefore, anyone found fomenting trouble will be dealt with in accordance with the law, as the CP enjoins all to celebrate responsibly”
