Edo cult leader reportedly killed in power tussle

A yet-to-be-identified suspected leader of the Vikings Confraternity in Edo State has reportedly been shot dead in a violent power tussle.

DAILY POST gathered that the clash was allegedly orchestrated by rival factional members.

The incident was reported to have occurred on Monday, December 15, 2025, along the Benin–Agbor Road, in what witnesses described as a bloody overthrow.

A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the group had been plunged into crisis following its last national election, during which a candidate was allegedly imposed.

‎“The attackers may have intended to remove the leader without bloodshed, but once gunshots are fired, anything can happen,” he said.

‎When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, ASP Eno Ikoedem, said she had not yet been briefed on the incident.
