The Founder and Presidential Candidate of the All People’s Congress (APC), Dr Hassan Ayariga, has issued a strongly worded statement condemning what he describes as a “blatant and illegal” attempt by a Nigerian national to establish a kingdom within the territory of Ghana.

In a press release issued today July 8, 2025, Dr Ayariga, disclosed that a Nigerian citizen, reportedly of Igbo descent, has acquired over 50 acres of land in Ghana with the intention of creating his own kingdom.

He described the move as a direct threat to Ghana’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national unity.

“This development is not only alarming but also a direct threat to the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Republic of Ghana,” Ayariga stated. “Ghana is a sovereign nation governed by laws—not a playground for foreign nationals to pursue personal empires at the expense of our people’s security and dignity.”

Dr Ayariga, expressed outrage at what he called the insensitivity of allowing such vast land acquisition for questionable purposes, especially at a time when many Ghanaian youth struggle to find jobs and affordable housing. He warned that Ghana’s renowned hospitality must not be mistaken for weakness.

In his statement, Dr Ayariga, called on the government and relevant state institutions to take swift and decisive action to halt the development. He issued five key demands, including:

1. An immediate investigation by National Security and other relevant authorities into the land acquisition and those involved.
2. The revocation of all land documentation and permits linked to the proposed kingdom.
3. The arrest and prosecution of the Nigerian national and any accomplices found violating Ghanaian law.
4. A public explanation from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the Lands Commission on how the transaction occurred.
5. A clear government policy to prevent the creation of unauthorized kingdoms or chieftaincies by foreign nationals.

“Ghana is not for sale,” he stressed. “If we allow this to go unchecked, we risk creating a lawless future where foreign interests override the rights of our own citizens.”

Dr Ayariga, concluded his remarks with a call for national vigilance, urging Ghanaians to defend the country’s sovereignty and resist any attempts to erode it.

“This is our country. We will protect it,” he declared.
