The Dormaa Central Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Dominic Adoma Ameyaw, has unveiled five significant development projects across the municipality, while calling for increased national support for the Duasidan Monkey Sanctuary.
During a day-long working tour, the MCE reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equitable development across all communities.
He disclosed that plans are advanced to construct a guesthouse and auxiliary facilities at Duasidan to enhance its appeal to tourists.
“We want Duasidan to receive the same attention as the Buabeng-Fiema Monkey Sanctuary,” he said, urging the Ghana Tourism Authority and Ministry of Tourism to prioritise the site.
The tour began in Besease with a sod-cutting ceremony for a new CHPS compound with staff accommodation, along with a mechanised borehole and electricity extension.
Duasidan will also benefit from a CHPS compound aimed at improving primary healthcare for residents and visitors alike.
In Dwen, construction commenced on a two-unit Kindergarten block with a dining hall, resting room, office, store, and a six-seater toilet, complemented by a mechanised borehole to ensure water supply for the school.
Dormaa Ahenkro will see the construction of a six-unit classroom block at Roman Catholic “B” Primary School, complete with office, library, staff common room, toilets, urinals, and a mechanised borehole.
At Presbyterian Junior High School, a three-unit classroom block with a computer laboratory, staff common room, office, store, toilets, urinals, and borehole will also begin.
Across all locations, traditional leaders called for improved road networks, stronger tourism promotion, and enhanced support for healthcare and education.
Residents welcomed the interventions, describing them as long-overdue initiatives for local development.
The MCE expressed confidence that all projects will be completed within six months, adding that logistics are in place and contractors are prepared to commence work immediately.
He also encouraged private-sector partnerships to transform Duasidan into a modern eco-tourism destination.
Dominic Adoma Ameyaw was joined by Dormaa Central NDC Chairman George Yaw Adu, representatives of the MP John Kwame Adu Jack, security officials, and assembly staff.
The launch of these five projects marks a major step toward boosting infrastructure and tourism in the municipality.
