The Deputy Chief of Staff, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, has assured the chiefs and people of Ada of the government’s commitment to addressing key development challenges in the area, especially in road infrastructure, market rehabilitation, and water access.
She emphasized the urgent need for critical road projects in the area, listing four key roads that require immediate attention including Kasseh to Ada Foah, Ada Foah to Totope, Togbloku to Aminapah/Medie, and Kasseh to Assigbeykope.
Nana Oye Bampoe Addo was speaking at the 88th anniversary of the Asafotufiami Festival in Ada of the Greater Accra region, celebrated under the theme: “Reaffirmation of the Commitment of Your Eminent Leadership to Peace, Stability, and Progress.”
Asafotufiami, the Festival of Firing of Musketry, is one of the most prominent and oldest annual celebrations observed by the Chiefs and people of Ada.
It commemorates the rich diversity and heroic bravery of their ancestors, who fought in historic wars that shaped the present-day identity of the Ada people.
The Deputy Chief of Staff noted that the Kasseh-Ada Foah and Ada Foah-Totope stretches are especially crucial to the economic fortunes of the area.
She expressed optimism that once the President’s attention is drawn to the situation through the Member of Parliament for Ada, Hon. Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah, positive action will be taken to address the concerns.
Nana Oye Bampoe Addo also drew attention to the poor state of the markets in Ada Foah and Kasseh, stressing the need for urgent rehabilitation.
She linked this to the 24-Hour Economy initiative, under which every district assembly receives an annual allocation of one million dollars through the District Assemblies Common Fund.
Nana Oye Bampoe Addo explained that part of this allocation is earmarked for the construction of modern markets and the rehabilitation of old ones to improve facilities and stimulate both day and night-time trading.
She added that the policy also focuses on identifying and addressing specific community needs, especially for farmers and fishermen, through the establishment of local industrial facilities aimed at boosting productivity and economic activity.
Touching on the area’s persistent water challenges, the Deputy Chief of Staff gave assurances that ongoing water projects in Otime-Kope, Ocansey-Kope, Mataheko, Anyakpo, Adedetse-Kope, Suntsokpa, Patukope, Elevanyo, Pute, Totopey, and surrounding communities are on track.
She recounted how Hon. Doyoe, the Member of Parliament for the area during a ministerial retreat in April, led a high-level team to inspect progress on these interventions.
Acknowledging Ada’s strategic position as Ghana’s salt and mineral hub, she stated that under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, this natural advantage would not be left untapped.
Addressing the theme of the festival, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo praised the chiefs and people of Ada for upholding peace and stability over the decades despite enduring challenges.
She called for renewed investment in youth and women, noting that their empowerment is essential for sustaining national development.
Nana Oye Bampoe Addo encouraged the integration of technology and artificial intelligence into traditional and communal life, urging the people of Ada to explore innovative ways of unlocking their community’s full potential.
She emphasized that tradition must not shy away from technological progress and called for collaborative efforts to complement government initiatives.
Nana Oye Bampoe Addo expressed confidence in the continued prosperity of the Dangme land, stating that with peace, resilience, and innovation, Ada could become a beacon of opportunity, growth, and shared prosperity for generations to come.
